I got late while coming over to di's home. Guess there are specimen who dont like to work in a way that saves time n effort on the part of others. I did meet one.....that apart I celebrated my 30th birthday.......I finished 29 summers on this planet, in this country but not in this particular city. every year I did get some or the other gifts and I always used to think oh I guess i could have done with a few more. Tonight as I tap the keys I dont feel any sorrow for not getting any gifts on this birthday....rather am sad because I could have gifted myself a very good friend or maybe a life partner if only I had been a little adamant yesterday. It was well past 9o'clock when me Gju di Tdu n Ldoo went to the mall. The idea was to have a dinner at some restaurant after the grocery shopping. As we entered the spencer's building i felt a strange urge, something like a gust of wind blowing in the underground parking lot, a thousand violins playing in the background a few bells ringing somewhere up! Well, I jus thought the incidents during the day are behind all this and carried Ldoo as we got inside the elevator which took us to the second floor. The supermarket wasnt so crowded and one could look from one corner to another without much effort. As di n gju were strolling around picking up items I was tasked with the job of keeping Tdoo n Ldoo engrossed in extracurricular activities. During this task i happened to set my sight on a very lovely looking lady wearing black shirt with white flowery d'sign n faded black denim(jean). I didnt stare at her to make her feel awkward but did steal a few glances as I too strolled between the neatly arranged racks. She was accompanied by an aged woman and another young girl of around her age or a lil less. She did attract my attention, and I wouldnt lie on this account, undivided at that. I nearly forgot the job assigned to me and let go of Ldoo. But I was quick to realise my folly and ran to catch my 2 yr old niece from disturbing her parents. I walked along the aisles catching a glimpse of her as and where possible, taking care not to let the elderly lady feel offended by my activity. I would have ended it if I had thought that she was jus a pretty lass. but she is much more than that....a pretty smart gal whom I could safely label as "wifey material"-someone whom you can safely let handle your home and hearth and even bank balance(i.e if its worth being handled by an adept hand). I would have continued my actions had not this lady proceeded to the payment counter before my Di and Gju. Soon, I knew, she would be gone and I would be just thinking up of lines to drop.............It was now or never, this is what people call crunch situation, jus like when U hav jus one ball left and a five needed. If u get a four its a tie and good enough but if you get a six you can win. I had to get something quickly and then I took a front step, I needed a SIX, walked over to where they were sitting and perched my soaking ass(common man, it gets sweating when u are tensed) on a chair jus a lil away from her. The first thing I could hear from my own mouth was 'Hi I'm Sumanth'......n thought to myself"oh to kaun sa james Bond hae!" She gave me a dazed look and a quaint smile! I guess the timing wasnt correct as the elderly lady maybe her aunt or mother was all ears to my words. I did ask her name to which I didnt get any reply. Then I told her that I wished to talk to her and as the situation wasnt good for her I was ready to talk to her outside or some other time.............but she gave a hesitant look at the other lady and said it wasnt so fine with her! Market crash wasnt a big deal infront of my HEART crash. Though I did put up a brave face and bid goodnight to her before moving away the lovley smile that mature face those lovely earrings stole my HEART with jus a jingle............. I know i may never get another chance to see her and talk to her but I know I didnt lose the chance of making her feel SPECIAL ! The smile that she flashed was far more a reward for me rather than a gift for my birthday!
