Humour in Uniform

This week was very sweet... in the sense it was full of funny happenings, some unmentionable and others worth mentioning. Will divulge a few right away while the rest cool down before I hand it over to others.

Light my Bulb

The Captain, our Department head, was hosting a few Reps from a civilian A/C and Ref company in his cabin and trying to show the Navy's hospitality scribbled a message and sent it across to the Chief sitting at the Admin section. The Chief pondered over it for a while and then asked a Petty Officer to read the note. They read it and started wondering why the Captain needed “10 - 6 amps” bulbs. The Chief with gazing at the note came over to the Captain's Tech Advisor and showed the note. The Tech Adviser, a young Chief, busy chatting with me and looked at the note, winking at me told the Chief to ask the Captain on intercom.

The Chief unmindful of the consequences called up the Captain and asked him whether he literally wanted “Ten – 6 amps” bulbs.

The Captain asked whether the Chief had asked the TA about the note, to which the Chief replied in the affirmative.

The Captain slammed the phone and next moment another note came flying out of his office. Everyone could see the colours flying out of the Chief’s face as he read it this time the note was legibly written and read

“ Tea – 6 cups”.
