The Last Over that Lasts Forever

I would fancy this…. Place Mumbai, Wankhede stadium jampacked for the final of Cricket World Cup, last one ball to be bowled with the opposition team hitting a few hard strokes n shots in the last two overs and needing just a run to draw the match and two runs to win the match with  four wickets in hand. The Indian team had amassed 300+ runs with a constant average of 7 runs an over and now the opposition team after losing a few wickets had forced themselves back into the game in the last four overs. The captain puts his men a little outside the circle as its no power play session. The bowler takes his short run up and plops a slower full pitched one at the batsmen. Not going for the big hit the batsmen goes on backfoot and snicks it squarely which is comparatively empty and he can go for the second run if he finishes the first one quickly, the runner while running looks at the other end horrifyingly but the wicket keeper has not noticed the folly, they finish the first run and the runner slips his bat at the batting end and starts to run for the second one and then from the corner of his eye he sees the leg Umpire, everyone in the stands is horrified as they think India has lost inspite of Sehwag’s big hitting start, Sachin’s brilliant hundred, Yuvraj and Viraat’s hard hitting slog overs and good bowling by Zaheer and Ashwin, all the stadium is silent and then suddenly erupts as they see the leg Umpire  standing with his finger up which had not been noticed by any other players till now….. A simple hit wicket by the batsman sends one bail swinging on top of the wickets a few times and then slipping down softly. As the Indian captain sees the second run completed and dejectedly walks to the bowler feels the same pain as the batsmen, he confusedly looks at the others who are jubilant after seeing the Leg Umpire, it dawns on him late that the batsmen has been given out and they have won the FINAL match.

I know this would be a really nail biting match and surely not for the weak hearted. A befitting match for the final. A match that see saws would be too exciting and adrenaline pumping than most of the antics we would do to get the excitement… what say?
