It was one of those lovely evenings that we planned, and it was over two hours that I and Amrit were out together and we two were unaware of the ongoing some place else. We were enjoying the time.
And some place else it had become completely dark, the water was still but there was hardly any flow of air. It could have been fatal for the subject. The subject was marooned all alone on a piece of vast area that seemed like hard ground, no greenery, no other life form visible over there. The subject could have dared to swim out in the film like calm waters but as there was literally no visibility swimming out in the open could be fatal, what if there was no part where the subject could go and got tired swimming out in the open? The subject may have thought this was the end. If only some friends were close by for help.
After a lot of vague sorties we returned to the initial spot, the engine was shut and we were ready to rest a while…..I stepped into the toilet and just after that heard Amrit scream, “Oh good Lord”. I rushed out and stared at the horrific look on Amrit’s face and turned my sight to the place he was looking at. There on that small piece jutting out of the water we could see a small figure…… There was no time to be lost, we didn’t know how long the subject had been marooned, we didn’t know if the subject had something to eat or not. We went close and Amrit put forward his hand to help the subject out of the tight spot, I knew the subject wouldn’t be in a position to accept his hand, I shouted at him, I’ll let the light stream in you get something to haul the subject out of the water…… Amrit rushed to the nearest table and pulled out a paper, as he positioned it in front of the subject we saw the Ant crawl onto the paper hurriedly as if saying “Good Lord, am safe and I can meet my family now“. I put the lid back on the water filter, I could feel the fear the Ant must have felt in that filter with the lid on it, standing on the lone candle which was away from the other one which may not have been visible in the darkness.
